Arizona

Ballet Arizona Summer Workshop

June 15–17, Phoenix

Head to sunny Phoenix for a three-day workshop for beginner and intermediate/advanced students. Ideal for those looking for evening classes, this workshop offers a 90-minute technique class followed by one hour of repertoire. 

Ballet Tucson Adult Summer Workshop

June 8–19, Tucson

Step inside Ballet Tucson’s studios for an evening summer intensive. Classes are geared toward beginner and intermediate levels, and include technique, classical variations, modern, tap, and flamenco. Dancers have the option to enroll for one week, two weeks, or individual courses. 

Studio R Ballet Adult Summer Intensive Program

July 13–17, Mesa

Studio R, located in Arizona’s third-largest city, offers an adult intensive over five evenings (with three-, four-, and five-evening registration options available), with classes in technique, contemporary, character, and strength-and-stretch.

California

BalletCenter Studios Adult Summer Intensive

August 14–17 and August 28–31, San Diego

These four-day intensives in sunny San Diego explore classical pathways of movement aimed at improving technique.

Ducon California Adult Intensive 

August 3–8, Mountain View

Train with Runqiao Du and others in this six-day workshop for intermediate and advanced dancers. Classes include technique, pointe, repertoire, variations, and one-on-one coaching. The intensive wraps up with a showcase at the end of the week.

Los Angeles Ballet Adult Summer Intensive

June 23–27 and August 4–8, Los Angeles

In these five-evening workshops in the City of Angels, dancers will get in-depth technique, repertoire, pointe, and men’s classes, as well as seminars on injury prevention and conditioning/strengthening. (Full- and partial-program options are available.)

San Francisco Ballet Adult Summer Workshop

June 1–5 (technique track) and June 1–6 (performance track), San Francisco

Choose between a five-day technique-focused or a six-day performance-focused intensive in the studios of San Francisco Ballet. Classes include technique, Horton, jazz, Progressing Ballet Technique, character, pointe, men’s technique, and more. Performance-track students will also study repertoire and have a small informal showing.  

Westside Ballet Adult Intro/Beginner Intensive

June 8–12, Santa Monica

At Westside Ballet’s intensive, beginning ballet students will take daily technique class, plus a 45-minute session focused on an aspect of center work, like pirouettes and allégro. The workshop also includes a stretch-and-strengthening class.

Colorado

Ballet Melange Academy Adult Intensive

July 6–11, Denver

Intermediate to advanced dancers in this weeklong, full-day program will receive classes in technique, pointe, variations, classical repertoire and pas de deux, character/historical dance, contemporary/jazz, and stretching.

Colorado Movement Lab Adult Movement Intensive

June 1–6, Westminster

Held in suburban Denver, this weeklong intensive runs six to eight hours per day. Sessions include technique, pointe/ankle strengthening, contemporary, modern, and kinesiology. Participants will have a culminating performance on the final day.

Florida

International Adult Ballet Festival

July 6–11, Daytona Beach

At IABF, the motto is “Eat, Dance, Play, & Repeat.” At this ballet camp for adults, students of all levels take classes in technique, contemporary, pointe, cross-training, and partnering. The week finishes with a performance showcase and includes an optional competition. 

Orlando Ballet School Fitness Thru Dance Summer Intensive 

Technique Program & Choreography

August 5–9, Orlando

This part-fitness, part-dance intensive focuses on technique, with an optional add-on for choreography, in multiple dance styles including ballet, modern, and jazz. Geared toward those with at least one year of dance training, this program wraps up with a performance opportunity on the final day of class. 

St. Petersburg Festival of Dance and Adult Dance Competition

July 13–18, St. Petersburg, Florida

This festival’s intensive in Sunshine City offers classes in classical ballet technique, pas de deux, pointe, variations, contemporary/modern, and jazz. In the days after the intensive, dancers will have a chance to compete in a variety of genres and be a part of a gala performance on the final day.

The Sarasota Ballet Adult Summer Intensive

June 1–5, Sarasota

At this five-day intensive on Florida’s Gulf Coast, dancers will take daily technique classes, pointe (for those with experience), specialized sessions on topics such as terminology, and workshops exploring pirouettes, allégro, and more.

Georgia

Atlanta Ballet Adult Dance Intensive

June 7–13, Atlanta

Those wanting a three-, five-, or seven-day intensive option can take their pick at this workshop. Atlanta Ballet’s program offers technique, contemporary, tap, jazz, and stretch-and-strengthening classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced dancers. 

Illinois

Ballet 5:8 Adult Summer Intensive

July 23–26, Orland Park

During one weekend in Chicagoland with Ballet 5:8, dancers will receive classes in technique, pointe/pre-pointe, Progressing Ballet Technique, strength training, repertoire, partnering, and contemporary. Seminars on nutrition and injury prevention are also included. 

Chicago Ballet Arts Adult Intensive

July 13–19, Evanston

This Windy City intensive features technique, variations, modern, contemporary, musical theater, repertoire, conditioning, and pointe classes. The week wraps up with an informal, in-studio showing.

Enjoy a full day or half day of classes at Kansas City Ballet’s South Campus, where dancers will dive into technique, pointe (optional), variations, classical repertoire, and new work. Each day begins with a conditioning class and ends with a lecture on various educational topics.

Kentucky

Louisville Ballet Adult Intensive

May 25–30, Louisville

Take part in Louisville’s vibrant cultural scene at Louisville Ballet’s five-day summer program geared toward dancers of all levels. Classes include technique, pointe, jump strengthening, variations, modern, jazz, Gyrokinesis, and yoga. Dancers can sign up for a full- or half-day option; those in the full-day program take part in an in-studio showcase at the conclusion of the week.

Boston Ballet Adult Dance Program Week Intensive

Elevate your dance practice this summer with an intensive at Boston Ballet, designed for adult students of all levels. Each day will begin with technique, followed by sessions in repertoire, contemporary, character, Graham technique (modern), dance history, and mime. All classes feature live music. 

Northeast Arts Adult Summer Intensive

August 12–16 and August 19–23, Jamaica Plain

In this comprehensive workshop, adults at an intermediate level or above can work on ballet technique, variations, and repertoire while building strength, balance, and flexibility in add-on classes in conditioning and somatics. A professional photo shoot is also available for an additional fee.

Michigan

Grand Rapids Ballet Adult Ballet Intensive

June 15–19 and July 27–31, Grand Rapids

In these three-class-per-night evening intensives, students will start with conditioning, stretch, and/or Progressing Ballet Technique, followed by technique and choreography. The programs culminate in an informal performance.

Montana 

Montana Ballet Company Adult Intensive

August 3–8, Bozeman

Montana Ballet Company’s weeklong intensive in the Big Sky state includes classes in technique, character, variations, contemporary, body conditioning, Pilates, and yoga. Lectures on nutrition, dance history, and mindfulness are also included. Full- and partial-week options are available, with an optional performance for full-week participants.

New York

American Ballet Theatre Adult Summer Intensive

June 1–5 (waitlist only) and August 24–28, New York City

Learn the celebrated ABT style in this five-day workshop that begins with ballet conditioning (yoga, Pilates, and stretch), followed by technique class with live music and optional pointework. Men’s work will be included, and the day wraps up with a repertory workshop and an adjunct class or lecture. An in-studio showing and reception rounds out the week.

New York City Ballet Essentials Workshop Weekend

June 11–14 and August 6–9, New York City

Designed for beginner to advanced-beginner adults, this four-day workshop will focus on technique, NYCB-inspired choreography, Pilates, and yoga. Students will learn about the company through lecture-demonstrations with NYCB dancers and behind-the-scenes experiences.

Kat Wildish Summer Intensive

August 31–September 6, New York City

Be part of Kat Wildish’s create-your-own-intensive in the heart of the Big Apple. Students have the option to attend as many or as few in-person or online classes as they wish. Sessions include technique, pointe, mindful stretching, pas de deux, and a variation workshop. Dancers may add on private lessons for an additional fee.

North Carolina

Carolina Ballet Adult Ballet Summer Intensive

June 5–7, Raleigh

Ideal for beginner through advanced students, this three-day program includes daily classes in ballet technique, jazz/contemporary, variations, and choreography. Registration opens on April 6.

Amy Novinski Adult Ballet Workshops

Amy Novinski offers three workshop options for adults, depending on level: beginner, advanced beginner, and intermediate.
